AI is generating images in such a way that it is getting harder to tell which one is generated by AI and which one is not. It is getting so good that nowadays they are also creating real human-like faces and you won't be able to tell the difference.
But don't worry, we are here to make that possible. Just go through this article.
1. Check these odd details
AI is good, but it still struggles with very fine details, like checking whether certain features are present or not.
AI is still not able to generate hands and fingers properly. It often fails to get the number of fingers right, the hands and feet are usually distorted, mismatched, or oddly shaped.
The second issue is the weird type of text. If you tell it to write something on a photo, it might do that, but the text often appears distorted, wrapped, or mixed with random logos that don’t relate to the text. Sometimes, the spelling is also incorrect.
The third problem is with faces, they might be unsymmetrical. AI sometimes struggles with making faces, so the eyes might be of unequal sizes. That’s how you can identify how AI-generated images are different.
2. Skin texture and smoothness
If you check the skin of humans or anything, it may look very smooth, almost plastic-like.
This is because AI tends to remove all types of imperfections, and that’s what makes it look unrealistic and too flawless. But it also makes it different from a real picture, and that’s how you can spot the difference.
3. Physics Rules
The lighting and shadow rules of physics are not followed in AI images.
If you see light coming from a source and shadows forming in another direction, violating the rules of physics, you can consider that it is definitely AI-generated because it is not always perfect.
And even if the shadows look unnatural, colorful, or inconsistent, then that is definitely AI-created.
4. Check Backgrounds
Now if you look at the background, you may notice that it is mostly blurry and unnoticeable, so if it looks like that, it may be AI-generated.
This isn’t always the case with real pictures, but in AI-generated pictures, that’s how it usually is.
The background often contains some unrelated objects or things that might not be connected to the main subject.
5. Search images on search engine
If an image looks suspicious to you, you can also do a Google search. Just go to Google Lens and put that image there, and if it appears in the search on some validated or credible website, then it might not be AI-generated. But if it doesn’t appear and looks new to you, that could be a case of an AI-created image.
There are also some tools to check whether an image is AI-generated or not. For example, there is a website called ILLUMINARTY that checks the reality of any image.
